From technology development to integration: key takeaways as the Consortium advances towards preclinical validation and future clinical translation

The recent NEOLIVER Consortium Meeting, hosted by partner DWI – Leibniz Institute for Interactive Materials, in Aachen, marked an important milestone in the project’s evolution.

After the first stages of technology development, the Consortium is increasingly focusing on the integration of the different components being developed across the project. Discussions highlighted the progress achieved in biofabrication technologies, biomaterials, cellular components and supporting platforms, as well as the challenges and opportunities associated with combining these elements into a functional bioprinted liver construct.

Several key messages emerged from the meeting:
